Story starts with a trip of women’s college student’s trip for studying Botany and meet Prof Parimal Tripathi ( famous botany Professor ). The grandson of the watchman of that house gets ill. And to help him, Mr. Parimal Tripathi turns into a watchman.

Parimal falls in love with one of the students Sulekha Chaturvedi and teases him always with the story of his several wives. One day Sulekha finds the truth and develops love knowing his persona. Later they got married.

Wait this is not the end but just the start of the story. Sulekha is very much impressed by his brother in law Rahgvendra ( Om Prakash ) and keeps on narrating his greatness in front of Parimal. Her constant praising regarding the intelligence of “Jijaji” annoys Parimal to the extent that he decides to prove his superiority to him. He decides to join the vacant job of a driver at Jijaji’s house. The current driver at Jijaji’s house has an improper Hindi so he needed a fluent and correct Hindi speaking man as his driver. Thus, Parimal turns into “Pyare Mohan”, a driver with an excellent Hindi Dialect and hates English to his core.

Chupke Chupke is surely one of the best Bollywood movies you must watch

This all creates a huge laughter riot because of the improper translation of Hindi into English. This acts as a start of Pyare Mohan’s prank on Raghvendra. Meanwhile, Sulekha visits Jijaji’s house and pretends that she is not happy with her marriage with Prof Parimal whom Jijaji has not met yet in reality. In due course, Sulekha portrays that she is in love with Pyare Mohan. And if this was not enough for Jijaji to cope up with, Parimal visits his friend Sukumar Sinha ( Amitab Bachchan ) to play the role of Prof Parimal in front of Jijaji. Sukumar is a professor of English literature in reality and with constant persuasion accepts to turn into Parimal Tripathi.

The twists are not over. Sukumar while faking as professor Parimal falls in love with Vasudha ( Jaya Bachchan ) the sister in law of Prashant Kr. Srivastav relative of Raghvendra and friend of Parimal. Vasudha has a suspicion of the loyalty of fake Parimal for her wife Sulekha. later on, she finds the reality and also falls for Sukumar, the fake Parimal.

Unusual Comic Twists in the movie  Chupke Chupke ( 1975 )

The situation gets all confusing and Jijaji gets confused and is clueless about everything. Meanwhile, Sukumar and Vasudha get married at the temple in full chaos. And with everyone gathering there, Jijaji discovers the truth and Sulekha and Jijaji both accept the intellect of Parimal.

Conclusion-

Hrishikesh Mukherjee was known for his classic movies. Chupke Chupke is one of the best comedy movies I have ever watched. Though the plot seems way mixed up, Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Perfect direction holds on to the subject and makes the plot simple for the audience to understand and enjoy.
No one can have a slight guess that Jaya Bachchan was pregnant during the shooting of the movie even though there were no CGI or VFX back then. This all only adds to the quality of camera work and direction.

The movie was such a huge blockbuster and popular that the Government of India telecasted it in the year 1980 on Doordarshan during the Solar Eclipse. This was done to make people stay in their houses and thus avoiding to watch Solar eclipse through naked eyes.

Actor Dharmendra was flawless in the role of Prof. Parimal and it is one of his best performances in the movies. Even Sharmila Tagore, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Om Prakash, Asrani, Lata, etc. everyone gave their best performance and the movie became an epic.

Chupke Chupke is one of the must-watch Bollywood movies and a great sensible laughter riot. Content to performance, direction to music everything of the movie outshines the other comparisons.
